Who is Shelly Bays-Costa?

I thought this was an easy question, but to try to introduce myself and Spirit Tribe Studio has been a tricky task.

I am a mother of 4 sons. I have been a teacher (ok—teaching assistant) for almost 20 years. I have been married for 23 years, but have known my husband for 36 years (YIKES!) and, I am an artist.

I.am.an.artist. I AM an Artist. I AM AN ARTIST!

It took me a long time to be able to say those four simple words.

I was always crafty. I was really creative. I loved art and art classes. However; it took me until I was 39 years old to give myself permission to own those words. Now, 15 years later (yes, I am 54 years old—I’ll save you the math moment), I am about to embark on an artistic adventure. I am leaving the world of elementary education and I am diving head and hands first into the world of full-time art.

Evening – maybe reading, or t.v., or finishing an art project…

I am not sure what all of this will look like, but I am ready for my next big adventure! Spirit Tribe Studio is opening to the world!
